These Terms of Use form a binding agreement between you and FT Studios governing your use of the BG ShelfScout iPhone and iPad application ("the App") and the bgshelfscout.ftstudios.app website. By downloading, installing, or using BG ShelfScout, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
FT Studios grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use BG ShelfScout on Apple devices you own or control, for personal non-commercial use only. Your licence is also subject to Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement; in the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, these Terms govern to the extent permitted.
No account creation is required to use BG ShelfScout. You must be at least the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (13 in the United States, 16 in most of the EU, or as otherwise required by local law). If a younger household member uses the App on a device you control, you accept responsibility for their usage.
BG ShelfScout Premium unlocks features including Hidden Gems, Game Night Planner, "Should I Buy This?", Shelf Scan, unlimited daily AI recommendations, and other advanced features described in-app.
Plans. Premium is available as:
Subscription prices vary by country and may change over time. Apple provides advance notice of any price increase per App Store policies, and your consent to the new price may be required for the renewal to proceed.
Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. For auto-renewing plans, your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, unless auto-renewal is disabled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Free trials. If a free trial is offered, standard pricing applies after the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Cancellation. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.
Refunds. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's refund policy. Refund requests are made through Apple's Report a Problem page and are granted at Apple's discretion, except where law requires otherwise.
You agree not to: (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law; (b) circumvent any Premium gating or rate-limiting; (c) use the App for any unlawful purpose; (d) resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or redistribute the App or your access to it; or (e) abuse our AI proxy or BoardGameGeek proxy endpoints (e.g. automated scraping, denial-of-service).
Your BoardGameGeek username, collection data, ratings, wishlist, taste profile, and any text you enter into the App are yours. BG ShelfScout stores this data locally on your device using SwiftData. FT Studios does not have a server-side copy of this data and cannot access it.
When you use AI features, an anonymised subset of your taste profile and the request payload is transmitted to our AI proxy for the duration of the request. We do not log or retain this data after the response is returned.
You are responsible for the legality of any content you enter into the App, including any BoardGameGeek account credentials you choose to use.
BG ShelfScout depends on the following third-party services. Your use of the App is subject to the terms and privacy policies of these providers, in addition to these Terms:
The App may also contain links to external websites (for example, BoardGameGeek game pages). FT Studios is not responsible for the content or practices of those sites.
BG ShelfScout — including its software, design, original copy, trademarks, and logos — is owned by FT Studios and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. BoardGameGeek data displayed in the App remains the property of its respective rights holders. AI-generated responses are provided to you under the licence in Section 1 and are not granted any exclusivity.
Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy. By using BG ShelfScout, you agree to the practices described there.
BG ShelfScout is provided "as is" and "as available". FT Studios disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
AI-generated responses (recommendations, "Should I Buy This?" verdicts, Hidden Gems suggestions, Shelf Scan results, Game Night plans, and chat replies) are informational only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are not professional advice. You are responsible for your own purchasing, gameplay, and social decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FT Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising out of or relating to your use of BG ShelfScout, even if FT Studios has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
FT Studios' total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to BG ShelfScout is capped at the greater of (a) the amounts you paid FT Studios for Premium in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
These Terms are between you and FT Studios, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for BG ShelfScout or its content. To the extent these Terms provide for usage rules or restrictions less restrictive than, or in conflict with, the Apple Standard EULA, the more restrictive or conflicting Apple term applies.
You agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that upon your acceptance Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
FT Studios — not Apple — is solely responsible for the App, its content, maintenance, support, and any product warranties (to the extent not effectively disclaimed). FT Studios is solely responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and intellectual-property infringement claims.
FT Studios may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of BG ShelfScout after the updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the App.
You may stop using BG ShelfScout at any time by deleting the App. FT Studios may suspend or terminate your access (including disabling proxy access for your installation) at any time, with or without notice, for any material breach of these Terms. Sections 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence still apply where they grant you stronger protection. Disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms fall under the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts.
